Do you wish to have fun, beautiful handwriting?! Learn how to hand letter with expert Maghon Taylor on Thursday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Alamance Arts. Cost is $38 per person, including supplies. Ticket sales will be launched Thursday, Mary 23 at 10:00 a.m.

Hand Lettering is calligraphy's casual counterpart.  Taught with sharpie markers on clipboards, this class teaches you how to improve your own handwriting with techniques and tricks that I lovingly refer to as FAlligraphy. Open to ages 10-110.  No experience necessary!” - Maghon


BARN QUILT PAINTING CLASSES

Create your own 24" x 24" barn quilt! Educator and instructor Beth Ball is hosting barn quilt painting classes to benefit Alamance Arts. Cost is $50 per person, including all materials. Barn quilts are created on pre-primed plywood and can be hung inside or outside. Choose your own pattern and color choices (see pattern options here) and learn how to draft the pattern onto the plywood. All paints are latex based. You create the barn quilt in one class session. Learn how to create a beautiful one of a kind piece of abstract art – no brushes or experience required! Instructor Kay Brooks will teach a unique fluid art technique known as “Flip Cup” or “Paint Pour.”

SILK DYEING CLASSES

Tuesday, May 21, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Create a silk handkerchief (12" x 12") and a silk scarf (8" x 54") using a Sharpie marker technique. (see examples here) The cost is $30 per person, participants must bring their own Sharpies. For the best results, bring Sharpie markers, either fine point or chisel point, in as many colors as you would like.  You may also use Copic markers; however, off brand permanent markers do not work well for this technique. BEGINNING COLORED PENCIL CLASSES

FIVE SESSIONS ALTOGETHER: WEDNESDAYS, jULY 10, 17, 24, 31, AUGUST 7, 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.

This course is designed for youth - rising sixth graders and up. Come learn the basics of creating fine art with colored pencils. Students will learn about tools and supplies, different pencil strokes, and how to manage pencil pressure for best results.  Colored pencil techniques such as layering, blending and burnishing will be taught as well as some basic color theory.  Youth will complete class exercises and small studies to learn and practice techniques.  Note: This is not a coloring class. CULINARY ARTS CAMP

Rising sixth through ninth graders are invited to attend Culinary Arts Camp July 16 - 19, 2019, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. daily, at the Mebane Arts and Community Center. Campers will learn about healthy food preparation, baking, local produce/farm-to-table, kitchen safety, wellness and mindfulness, and leadership. All food and materials are included. Campers may bring their own snacks if needed. Early bird registration is $125 per camper and will continue through June 15. After June 15, registration is $150 per camper. Space is limited. MEBANE ART CAMP

Alamance Arts will host an Art Camp at the Mebane Arts and Community Center for rising third through sixth graders July 22 - 26, 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. daily. The camp will teach children about visual arts, music, theatre and expressive yoga through a variety of workshops and performances. All materials are included. Campers may bring their own snacks. Early registration is $50 and will continue through July 1. After July 1, registration is $65 per camper.
