Local Art Classes

Classes held at Alamance Arts support local artists and assist Alamance Arts in continuing to enhance the quality of life by engaging people in a diverse array of art.

Classes must have a minimum of at least 4 participants to occur, unless noted in the class description. If the minimum is not met, you will be notified at least 72 hours prior to the class, and a refund will be issued.

Class prices are set by artists. And, unless otherwise noted, all supplies are included in the cost.

Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance of the class to incur a refund. If you cancel less than 72 hours prior to class, a refund will not be issued. (But, we do allow you to have someone come in your place.)

NOTE that items not picked up from classes taken through Alamance Arts within 30 days of notification of pickup will be considered donated items and property of Alamance arts.

Pottery Lantern Carving Class

Come spend a couple of hours creating and learning in this pottery workshop. You’ll work to hand build and carve a beautiful lantern from clay. Local artist, Aliyah McAllister leads this class, which is being held at Alamance Arts. All supplies are included.

Pottery Wheel at Frickery Frackery Pottery

This 2-hour pottery wheel workshop will introduce you to the basics of the pottery wheel. You will have a chance to create an item, like a bowl or mug. Choose a glaze and then pick the item(s) up in a few weeks after they have been fired in the kiln. This class is taught by local potter, Tracy Levy. This is a perfect way to spend an evening with the girls or your significant other. Space is limited to only 5, so sign up today! Two dates being offered. Choose the date that works best for you!

Don’t miss out on this FREE writing workshop being offered by Alamance Arts Affiliate Member group, the Burlington Writers Club being led by Cheryl Wilder. Cheryl Wilder’s collection, Anything That Happens, a Tom Lombardo Poetry Selection (Press 53, 2021), was named Second Finalist in the Poetry Society of Virginia North American Book Award and received Honorable Mention in the Brockman-Campbell Book Award. Her forthcoming poetry collection, In the Presence Of (Press 53)—companion to her first full-length collection—is being supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and Durham Arts Council, local grants administrator. She’s author of the chapbook, What Binds Us, editor of Waterwheel Review, the 2022-24 president of the Burlington Writers Club, and earned her MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Cheryl lives near the Haw River with her husband and two of their three children.
