Upcoming Art Classes and Workshops
Classes held through Alamance Arts support local artists and assist Alamance Arts in continuing to enhance the quality of life by engaging people in a diverse array of art.
Class minimums are set by instructors and vary. If the minimum is not met, you will be notified at least 48 hours prior to the class, and a refund will be issued.
Class prices are set by artists. And, unless otherwise noted, all supplies are included in the cost.
Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance of the class to incur a refund. If you cancel less than 72 hours prior to class, a refund will not be issued. (But, we do allow you to have someone come in your place.)
NOTE that items not picked up from classes taken through Alamance Arts within 30 days of notification of pickup will be considered donated items and property of Alamance Arts.
Join Alamance Arts for a FREE Noon and Know Event on Wednesday, September 30 featuring a presentation and talk from local Rusty Holt on the history of Alamance County and the role that Textiles have played on our region over the years and the role they continue to play.
Feel free to bring a bagged lunch or stop and grab a to-go meal from one of the many restaruants in downtown Graham and enjoy a lunch of learning and fun.

Learn the basics of cyanotype, the 180-year old camera-less photographic printing process that produces a Prussia blue image. Using items from your yard or neighborhood, you will make 4 6"x8" prints.The process requires a sunny day so we plan to meet on October 6 from 10:00 am until noon. HOWEVER, the rain date is October 8.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
Bring 20-25 items to create your images: leaves; flowers; vines; weeds; ferns; small twigs; dried flowers (if you have them); buttons; lace. Organic material should be flattened under a book at least overnight for better contact with the paper.
Join local artist, Lou Humphries, as she guides you on the art of Fancy Doodles and Zentangle. This artform puts pen-to-paper and provides an outlet to creativity while also being a relaxing art form. No artistic experience is necessary. Just a desire to relax and enjoy yourself while doodling to create some art pieces. All supplies are included. Cost is just $65 for the entire 4-week series.
Pickup lunch nearby (or bring in a bagged lunch) and join us to hear about our newest exhibit - “Photographs by Hugh Morton: An Uncommon Retrospective”
This exhibit features 80 photographs from the Hugh Morton Collection of Photographs and Films at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The curator of the exhibit - photographic archivist Stephen J. Fletcher of UNC - will be here to discuss the photographs and answer questions. Hugh Morton’s influence extended well beyond photography. He inherited Grandfather Mountain in 1952 and developed it into one of North Carolina’s best-known travel destinations while also working to protect its natural environment.
In this class, you’ll let go of expectations and explore the joy of creating intuitively. In this beginner-friendly acrylic painting workshop, participants will use masking techniques, expressive marks, and layers of color to create an abstract artwork that reflects their own unique creative voice. No painting experience is needed—just a willingness to experiment, play, and discover what emerges.
Kids will LOVE working alongside local artist Rita Duxbury as they create two adorable wooden bats - perfect for Halloween Decor.
In addition to creating these cute creatures, Rita will share a story about bats that will engage and entertain those in attendance.
During this workshop, you will create your own holiday story that can be shared for generations to come. Local author, Karen Watts, will lead you in a relaxed and pressure/stress-free environment. At the conclusion of the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity (if you wish) to share your story aloud and will leave with a gift that spans time.
Join Alamance Arts for our quarterly offering of our ever popular Barn Quilt Painting Class. During this class, you will create a 24”x24” barn quilt in your choice of 24 patterns. You will leave with your painting! Space is limited! Cost includes all supplies. Sign up today!

Middle Schoolers will enjoy this 4-week arts and crafts workshop featuring several different projects and mediums to create projects to be used (or given) for the holidays.
This series is open to all levels and has TWO different class time options. All supplies are included in the cost, and space is limited to only 8 registrants per class!
Join Pam Spurrier on December 8 from 10:00 am until noon at Alamance Arts to paint a beautiful, 8"x72" silk scarf. We'll be using Colorhue, an instant-set dye that's easy to use. No experience needed. Make a scarf for you - or for a special person as a holiday gift.
Enjoy a relaxed and fun Friday afternoon learning how to prepare and present beautiful Charcuterie boards and platters for the Holiday Season. You’ll be taught techniques and tricks to make your holiday table irresistable to guests, while also leaving with your own charcuterie platter. Plus, as an added bonus, anyone who attends the class will receive 20% off an artisan created charcuterie board from Picasso’s gift shop. (If you wish to buy for the holidays!)
Come to Alamance Arts and a couple of hours later, walk away with some fun felted Christmas Ornaments to decorate your tree or to give as gifts.
In this class led by local artist and member of the Alamance Artisans, Anita Vigorito will lead you through the process of learning the basics of dry felting and creating these adorable ornaments.
